Yeah, they’ll definitely get a dedicated scene file editor to handle all that automatically. (Though probably not right away.)
…Or at least a Perl script to take a .txt file with simple dialogue and turn it into a properly-formated JSON scene.
Otherwise, IMO, there is too much fiddly stuff to hand-code, resulting in annoying, *avoidable* bugs when you misplace a quotation mark or curly bracket or something.
